THE WAVE OF SUSTAINABLE DESIGN CASA SÍMERA by WORC
Nestled in the lush, urban fabric of Polanco, CASA SÍMERA is more than a place—it is an evolving rhythm of light, movement, and presence. Conceived by WORC (Ricardo Martínez + Camila Ureña), this 240 m² multi-use project seamlessly unites a café, a wellness studio, and a garden-like threshold where time softens
Inside, the café reveals itself through a series of sculpted, intimate nooks soft curves, acoustic serenity, and a warm palette of plaster, clay, marble, stainless steel, and indoor plants. The design invites stillness and social fluidity, accommodating both communal exchange and introspective moments. It’s an architecture of moods, shaped by the time of day and the intent of its users
The Breathing Heart
At the center of CASA SÍMERA, a four-story vertical atrium bathes the space in natural light. Here, tiered platforms and a living wall (still in growth) create a peaceful transition zone an architectural pause that connects the café with the upper levels. This central volume is not just circulation it’s contemplation
The Inner Sanctuary
Above, the Hot Pilates & Yoga Studio becomes a sanctuary of intentional disconnection. A windowless, plant-free retreat, it’s minimal and immersive, with diffused lighting and a perfectly calibrated environment for presence, physicality, and breath. The contrast with the green below is stark, yet intentional balance through duality
Sustainability in Stillness
The project’s sustainability lies in its spatial intelligence and material authenticity: lime-based coatings by Nanocal, handmade ceramics from Studio Barro, and fixtures from partners like Interceramic, Ramon Soler, and Provenance. Lighting by David Pompa and Casa Par enhances the mood, while custom furnishings by VETA echo the studio’s architectural language
CASA SÍMERA invites us to rethink what it means to inhabit a space with attention. It is architecture in service of presence designed not to impress, but to resonate. A quiet force in The Wave of Sustainable Design.
